Karachi local fisherman brought a 36-foot-long whale shark weighing 7, 000 kilos to the Karachi Fish Harbour on Tuesday morning. The fisherman claim that they found the sea giant dead in the open sea, experts say it may have died after it got tangled up in a net.
The fishers managed to take the female whale shark out to the land with the help of two cranes, hundreds of onlookers celebrated with applause and cheers.
Haji Qasim bought the sea giant for Rs200,000 said “I have bought the fish, which usually has no significant commercial value, with the help of my friends just to appreciate the efforts of the fishermen who deserve some reward after spending an entire day in the open sea,”.
“Then I will sell the meat to the people running poultry meal business,” he says as he gets permission from the authorities to keep the white whale at the harbour for another three days for public viewing.
