Newly appointed Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has signalled his intentions to make an approach from Manchester United striker Michael Owen once the transfer window opens in January.
Houllier is not yet in control of the team as he is still awaiting all the clearance that he needs to be able to manage in the English league but he will be more than settled come the opening of the next transfer window.
The former Liverpool manager is very keen on bringing Owen to Villa Park after already managed the player during his time as Liverpool manager.
I would think that Manchester United will be more than willing to let the striker leave the club, freeing up wages for their own transfer targets and getting a return on a player that cost them nothing to sign.
