The newly appointed manager of Liverpool has still yet to prove his worth to the club after only just been given the role at the club but the recent results in the Europa League and a couple of the performances in the Premiership seem to offer a bright future for the manager.
Although Hodgson was not a favourite during the run up to the club making their decision, it was Hodgson that was chosen by the board of directors to be given the task of repairing a Liverpool team that failed to perform as expected during the last season.
The job was never going to be an easy task, with the players and fans wanting the owners to sell the club to another buyer, someone who could invest money into a transfer fund so that they could look to compete against the likes of free spending Manchester City.
Not only are the owners disliked by the fans but Hodgson had to come into the club just as star striker Fernando Torres was deciding about his future at the club with rivals Chelsea and Barcelona more than willing to part with £50m for the hitman.
Following a meeting with the striker, Hodgson was able to convince the Spanish international to stay put at the club and help to push the club back into the history books but the recent failure to be included in the Champions League could still be a huge issue for the striker who is constantly looking to play his game at the highest possible level.
Hodgson certainly has a job on his hands if he is to return Liverpool back to the respect level and greatness that has been so regular with the club and with Tom Hicks and partner still holding the purse strings, it’s not going to get any easier.
A realisation that has been seen by the players too, with last week goalkeeper Pepe Riena calling on the fans to allow the club time to recover from it’s present downfall and await for a new buyer to bring new life to the club.
The bad news for the club and manager Roy Hodgson is that Tom Hicks was today pictured in London, meeting with bankers to try to establish a new refinance package on the club so that he could retain the ownership.
